Partial Reps - Challenging Limits |
The
lack of inertia and negative resistance enables safe, unspotted, high force, high
speed, high intensity partial reps.
Protocol
Example: Bench Press Partial Reps - After the completion of the standard 12 rep
set, to exhaustion at full range of motion, reduce exercise movement to the top
1/4 of extended arms stroke position and have your trainer/partner increase resistance
20- 50%. Do as many Partial Reps as possible to exhaustion, ending in "micro-reps",
very short 1 to 3 inch reps, fast (1 second maximum work and ¼ return),
at full arm extension. Again, working the muscle to exhaustion with high speed,
high resistance exertion in its strongest range of motion, produces incredible
POWER increases fast. |
